A Hoot.

A family of horned owls have taken shelter in a neighborhood tree, cuddled up in a crevice only about 10 feet from the ground. We were lucky enough to witness this rare site - a mama owl and her three little owlets, peacefully nesting until the owlets are big enough to fly off on their own. The mama's gorgeous piercing eyes watched us carefully as any protective mother would. And the tiny owlets peeked at us from inside their cozy nest to say hello. We have so many owls around our house but usually we're only lucky enough to catch a glimpse of a silhouette on a wire or a quick dive towards prey. Now we can say we've seen an owl up close, in broad daylight, and with little babies! Oh, nature, thank you for being so lovely!!

I love the word "owlet". Also, I just bought an owl cookie jar from Anthro!
