Boys will be Boys

Warning: video may not be suitable for small children, grandmas...or virgins.

Last weekend, Steve and I went to visit the Elephant Seals in San Simeon (for the second time so far this year). February is mating season, as seen in the video above. We've witnessed almost every point in the Seals' lifecycle, which has been a very interesting experience. In January, all of the females had their babies, and by last weekend most of the pups had grown, but unfortunately, not all of them make it. Sometimes the pups become separated from their mothers, and are left without milk, or trampled by the enormous males. In another video, I captured a few seagulls pecking at the eyeballs of a dead baby seal :( It was hard to watch, but curiously impossible to turn away. Enjoy!
