Yes, I live in Paradise

Found this aerial snapshot of San Luis Obispo on the Chamber of Commerce website, but I've actually witnessed this view for myself while on an airplane coming into SLO. The hills are starting to turn green again, which makes me quite happy!! This photo is a reminder of how lucky I am to live in such a beautiful place.

Billy TIME!

So my weird boyfriend is really into making iron-on t-shirts. Before he left for Costa Rica, I helped him make these shirts for his friends. I guess most of them are inside jokes, but I thought they were pretty funny anyway. Now you might understand his skewed sense of humor a little better. Click on the picture for larger images.

Oh, he designed the sweetcorn one for me :)

Small Hair!

I was going to wait until next week to cut my hair, but I couldn't stand it anymore. No matter what I did, it just hung off my head like a dead animal. So, here's the new and improved me!! Not quite SJP, but I am going to try the curl thing this weekend and see how it looks. :)

Steve requested that it "flip out at the ends like when we first met". Actually, that reminds me of a story about Steve and my hair when we first started talking. Just over a year ago, Steve and I barely ever spoke beyond work talk. A typical conversation would go like this:

Jaime: "Hi Steve, here are your results. It looks great! You did it! Wow!"
Steve: "Thanks, yeah I'm pretty much the smartest person here. You're really no help to me... you drew a benzene ring with only 5 carbons, you idiot"

Ok, that's all a lie. Actually not ALL a lie. I did draw a 5 carbon benzene ring on his results, and I didn't notice it until I already gave it to him, so I thought I would play it really cool and I went back up to him and said, "oh shit, I think I messed up on your results, here's the correct one." and he was like "haha yeah its cool, I already fixed it, no prob" (if you have no idea what I am talking about, a benzene ring always has 6 carbons) But really, I am an idiot.

Anyway, this is how it really went:
Jaime: "Uhh *choke* huu hi..umm..here's your results. I hope its right because I really don't know what I'm doing"
Steve: "Thanks! That was quick! It looks hella good! Oh hey, you cut your hair! I like it"

Then I would get REALLLLLLY hot and sweaty (the kind of sweat where you immediately have to wipe your melting brow) and I probably mumbled some backwards nonsense, as usual. God, I was (am) really lame.

But I'm not even kidding. He really did notice my haircut - it was similar to the one now - and he really did tell me he liked it. I will never forget that moment. I think it was the first time I realized I had a little crush on this mystery man...and maybe he had a little crush on me!

A Little Spark of Hope

One of my very favorite Death Cab for Cutie songs describes the hope of finding true love. Even when you may be hurting from a breakup or trying to get over someone whom you once loved, please realize that there is someone else out there who is meant for you, who won't break your heart, and who won't leave you alone. SOMEDAY you WILL be loved like you never have known.

I have experienced heartache and hopelessness, but this song always helped me get through the hard times...and guess what, my someday is here! So, if you want to know if it's really true - if the memories of past loves really do become blurred, and if someone better does come along - take it from me, it's true! And when it does come, it will be more amazing than you can ever imagine.

"Someday You Will Be Loved" by Deathcab for Cutie

I once knew a girl
In the years of my youth
With eyes like the summer
All beauty and truth
In the morning I fled
Left a note and it read
Someday you will be loved.

I cannot pretend that I felt any regret
Cause each broken heart will eventually mend
As the blood runs red down the needle and thread
Someday you will be loved

You'll be loved you'll be loved
Like you never have known
The memories of me
Will seem more like bad dreams
Just a series of blurs
Like I never occurred
Someday you will be loved

You may feel alone when you're falling asleep
And everytime tears roll down your cheeks
But I know your heart belongs to someone you've yet to meet
Someday you will be loved

You'll be loved you'll be loved
Like you never have known
The memories of me
Will seem more like bad dreams
Just a series of blurs
Like I never occurred
Someday you will be loved

You'll be loved you'll be loved
Like you never have known
The memories of me
Will seem more like bad dreams
Just a series of blurs
Like I never occurred
Someday you will be loved
Someday you will be loved

Boys will be Boys

Warning: video may not be suitable for small children, grandmas...or virgins.

Last weekend, Steve and I went to visit the Elephant Seals in San Simeon (for the second time so far this year). February is mating season, as seen in the video above. We've witnessed almost every point in the Seals' lifecycle, which has been a very interesting experience. In January, all of the females had their babies, and by last weekend most of the pups had grown, but unfortunately, not all of them make it. Sometimes the pups become separated from their mothers, and are left without milk, or trampled by the enormous males. In another video, I captured a few seagulls pecking at the eyeballs of a dead baby seal :( It was hard to watch, but curiously impossible to turn away. Enjoy!

Chop Chop

I am thinking of cutting my hair, again. It's getting pretty long and its becoming unmanageable and extra greasy. What do you think of this length? It might make me look more professional? I need your opinions, please. I heart SJP.
